As a young, rambunctious kid, Halloween was among my favorite holidays.
It was a real "treat" to dress up as a popular cartoon character or super hero, back in the day!
And the door-to-door rounds, gathering up candy and assorted goodies from all the neighbors rounded out all the fun.
Fast forward...it's 2013 and the environment, activities and times have changed.
Halloween can be dangerous and filled with real life "horrors."
Unfortunately, we have some adult (and teen) "characters" that are opportunistic and unstable, that use this day to dress up in disguises and commit crimes to people and to property.
Don't be a needless victim.
Remember to be aware of your surroundings.
When out and about, walk with others, and stay in well-lit areas.
Don't open your doors up to every Tom, Dick and Harry.
Better safe than sorry.
Here's hoping that you have a terrific Thursday filled with treats and treasures!
A.D.
